Dividend taxation
The federal Income Tax Act, and most provincial income tax legislation, taxes Canadian individuals who receive eligible dividends at a reduced rate. These dividend tax rules have been implemented by the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Quebec.
All dividends paid by Co-operators General Insurance Company to individuals and trusts on or after January 1, 2006, are eligible dividends for the purposes of the Income Tax Act.
