Travel claims

Many travel insurance claims can be submitted through Allianz Global’s secure Online Claims Portal, including Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Flight Delay, Lost or Delayed Baggage, Rental Car Damage, Purchase Protection, Extended Warranty, Event Ticket Cancellation, and eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses.

The portal is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and allows travellers to upload documents, track claim status, and save a claim to complete later.

If your travel insurance policy includes emergency medical coverage, you should contact Allianz Global Assistance before seeking treatment whenever possible. Emergency Assistance Specialists are available to:

• Help locate an appropriate medical provider
• Coordinate care based on the traveller's condition and location
• Arrange payment directly with healthcare providers when possible
• Provide guidance on next steps related to the claim

In a life-threatening emergency, seek immediate medical attention and have a family member or friend contact Allianz Global Assistance within 24 hours of hospital admission and before any surgery is performed.

Yes. Eligible medical expenses paid out of pocket while travelling can be submitted through the Online Claims Portal. You should keep all receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation to help process your claim faster.

After creating an account for Allianz Global’s Online Claims Portal, you can:

• Check claim status at any time
• Upload additional documents
• View outstanding document requirements
• Access claim-related correspondence and Explanation of Benefits documents
• Receive updates throughout the claims process

If you have questions or concerns regarding a claim decision, you should contact Allianz Global Assistance using the information provided in their Explanation of Benefits or claim decision letter.

If additional information is available or a review is requested, a written appeal with supporting documentation may be submitted within 180 days of receiving notice of a denied claim. Appeals can be submitted by email to appeals@allianz-assistance.ca.

Additional escalation options are available if the concern remains unresolved following the appeal process.

Eligible claim payments can be issued electronically through direct deposit or Interac e-Transfer® to a Canadian bank account.

Once a payment is ready, you’ll receive an email or text message with instructions on how to securely accept and deposit the funds. To avoid delays, make sure your contact information is current and check your spam or junk folder if you’re expecting a payment notification.
